Auszeichnung (Award) 2022

As part of the annual Rundgang, a student exhibition at Folkwang University of the Arts, a new award category was introduced and organized for the first time: the recognition of outstanding student work by an external jury. Our aim was to invite young designers from outside the university to acknowledge and support the impressive achievements of our students. The jury, consisting of Céline Hurka, Basse Stittgen, and Moon Seop Seo, awarded three prizes in the category Outstanding Design and Presentation and an additional prize in the category Progressive Diversity.

The prizes consist of a ceramic vase with a 3D-printed cylinder serving as the lid. The transparent PETG lid was designed using layer-by-layer 3D printing and features graphic floral elements along with the award title. The transparency of the lid creates a captivating effect that distorts and partially conceals the flowers placed inside the vase. This interplay between clarity and blur is further intensified by the flowers, some of which extend beyond the lid, generating an engaging visual effect. This project was a collaborative effort involving Lilli Weinhold, Meret Behnke and Janek Beau.
